One of the biggest retail operations on the planet, Amazon, opened a facility in Wood County in late 2025. Amazon Services LLC purchased property from the Polymer Alliance Zone off Meadville Road in Davisville for $2.96 million in December 2024. An approximately 70,000-square-foot building was constructed over the next 10 months. Last fall, the company began hiring positions under the Amazon Flex program, in which people earn “extra money” by delivering Amazon packages, according to Facebook posts from Wood County Economic Development about the jobs. Those posts described the operation as a “last-mile” delivery facility.
